Exodus 34 : Second set of tablets and commandments
The Lord tells Moses to cut 2 new stone tablets. Moses does so and goes up the Mount Sinai. Moses again asks for forgiveness and requests God to be with them as they set out from Mount Sinai.
God makes a covenant with the people of Israel. God says God will be with them if they obey God's commandments.
> Do not worship other gods.
> Do not make treaties with the people of the land that God is going to give to them.
> Do not have sons marry foreign women.
> Do not make idols of metals and worship them.
> Observe the festival of unleavened bread.
> Dedicate every first born male to God.
> Observe Sabbath strictly.
Moses stayed there with the LORD forty days and nights, eating and drinking nothing. He writes on the tablets the words of the covenant---the Ten Commandments.
Moses came down the mountain and spoke to people. They saw that his face was shining. After he spoke with them, he covered his face with a veil.
After that whenever Moses went to the tent of God's presence, he would remove the veil and talk to God. He would address the people soon after and once that was done, he would cover his face with the veil.
