Leviticus 13 : Laws concerning skin diseases
Israelites were very particular about cleanliness. This chapter details God's instructions about skin diseases and moulds in homes.
If anyone has a sore or a skin disease or a boil, he or she must come to the priest and have it examined. The priest would examine it and would determine if the person is clean or unclean. Sometimes, the priest would quarrantine the person for 7 days and then examine. If the symptoms persist but has not spread, the priest would isolate the person for another 7 days. If it has been determined that the person has a deadly skin disease after that, the priest would pronounce the person as unclean.
If someone is pronounced to have a dreaded skin disease, he/she must wear torn clothes, leave his hair uncombed, cover the lower part of his face, and call out, "Unclean, unclean!" if he sees someone. He remains unclean as long as he has the disease and must live outside the camp.
When there is mildew on any piece of clothing or linen or leather, it must be brought to the priest. He will examine it to determine whether it would spread or not. He would order it to be put away for 7 days if it doesnt appear to spread. If it still doesnt spread, he would ask for it to be washed and examine after 7 days. If it appears to spread, he would have it burnt.
